Tuesday 25th October - We had to leave the home comforts at some point! So off we set down the Sunshine Coast and towards the Gold Coast to Surfers Paradise. I LOVED Surfers, the beach was amazing, the promenade reminded me of home :( ... possibly the 1st time I started feeling the smallest bit homesick! Wasnt long getting over it though..when Marie and I decided to jog the prom...so not used to excercise these days! Spent the day chilling in Surfers and taking it all in
Wednesday 26th October - Got to spend another full day in Surfers Paradise..making use of the beach and the fine weather, the ole tan is coming along nicely (dont be too jealous Anne-Marie, and dont go applying 8 layers of Dove either to out-do me!) but from what I hear from my sources in Melbourne is freeze-tastic. Totally over the novelty of the "pent-house" at this point. Although...touch wood, there has been no major accidents from the horrideous ladder that Jucy provided us with, Sober or drunk! Another day of lounging and sun-bathing, with a bit of starbucks and retail therapy thrown in the mix. I really do not know if Jetstar will allow me on their flight to Melbourne next week. Its gone beyond a joke at this point!
Thursday 27th October - We left Surfers Paradise and made our way to Byron Bay. We managed to go through an "e-toll" and not pay...so much to our amusement we then needed to pay the toll over the phone. Lets just say - Australian IVR (the auto phone system thingy) does not like the Irish Accent. After Conals many attempts (in a strong Donegal Accent) he handed the phone to me, I then continued to try and pay the toll with my best G4/D4 accent. To no avail. At which point, Marie stepped in - where she actually got through to someone. Panicked and attempted to spell her name phonetically. Her surname is Bolton...as in Michael ;) Her phonetic version went something like this... M for Mango O for Orange L for Lemon O for Orange and N.... (arms flailing in a panic)...N for New South Wales!!
This doesnt spell Bolton. But my god did it make us laugh ;) Arrived in Byron Bay...raining. Pelting down actually, to the "Arts Factory". A Nomads hostel, so ridiculously hippy-ish. Not my scene at all, I was wearing white zara shorts and a flourescent pink top, I looked well out of place. Checking in for two nights. Oh. My. God.
Friday 28th October - There is a LOT of wildlife roaming around the "Arts Factory" - random wild turkeys and geckos. Im just not able. We ventured out of the hostel, as I was getting the serious heebie jeebies and walked to the light house, the most easterly point in Australia. Very prettiful indeed! Photos below! Ireland were playing Australia in the Aussie Rules tonight - so a night on the tiles was in order. Time to put on my Irish jersey...oh wait. I dont own one ;) Mom - feel free to send one over tho ;) Great night had by all in Byron Bay!
Saturday 29th October - Made our way further down the coast, stopped in Coffs Harbour. This place is really nice, kind of like the Hamptons. Lots of fruit pickers staying in our Hostel. Might be a taste of what life is going to be like for us in a few months! PS - still job hunting and house hunting...cant believe in a few days time we will be back to normality of working and not holidaying! Ventured into the little town for a looksie..nothing too Major to report.
Sunday 30th October- Beach day! Well we went Canoeing down the creek in the morning (very Summer Bay I hear you say!) and hard work it was. So we lay by Coffs Harbour beach for the afternoon then! Conal and Jo got body boards...very adventerous indeed. I decided to go for a paddle, little did I know what I was letting maself in for, the current was so strong I nearly ended up over in New Zealand I reckon. Not exaggerating at all! Back to the hostel for another chill out evening. Long aul trek ahead of us to get to Sydney. We have already travelled 2100 kilometres over the space of two weeks. And we have yet to travel another 660 kms just this weekend to get to Sydney!!
Monday 31st October (Happy Halloween y'all)....Im writing this in advance so apologies as I know we are going to be stuck in a car for the next few days!!We are leaving Coffs and heading further south to visit the Blue Mountains and Palm Beach, aka Home and Away!
Tuesday 1st November...Cannot believe I am travelling two months! We left Coffs and headed for Stockton - and stayed in a caravan park just like summer bay!
Wednesday 2nd November - Off to Summer Bay for the morning..I was a little behind the times and hoping to see Ailsa and Donald...no such luck, but the girls were in their element seeing..wait eh - Liam, April and a few river boys?!
Then we hit the road again and made our wait to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. Amazing. One of the most beautiful sights I have ever ever seen, see pics of the Three sisters. Last night ever in the Penthouse (oh how I will miss it...NOT!)
Thursday 3rd - Hitting Sydney Baby!Sight-seeing in Sydney and getting last few bits for Melbourne Races on Saturday. Got to see Lisa and booked our new years holiday to Fiji!
Friday 4th - 1st Day in Melbourne - really love the city. Lots of girly prep for the races tomorrow! Moved into our new apartment!! Marie and I have moved into the "Dungeon" and Anne-Marie is living with Monica, Leona and Marian in their very own penthouse! So lucky to get sorted with accomodation so quickly - Thanks AM! And its right on the beach!
Saturday 5th - 33 degrees, black bodycon, disaster! And it gets worse - had 5 straps across the back...so em...lots of ridiculous tan markS! Races were so much fun - no winners, but yummy frozen cocktails!
Sunday 6th - Brunch in St Kilda with AM, Marie, Noelle and Kieran. We have two interviews tomorrow...heels and work clothes. Seriously foreign feeling after two whole months of not having to work!
Monday 7th - Interview day..and luck must be on my side but I got a job offer! All going well it will see me employed til Christmas...so it means farewell from your fav blogger (blogging about work is terribly boring!).
